Visiting Choirs and Groups
Festival of Voices

Festival of Voices offers rich singing experiences in a non competitive environment. Choirs attending have the flexibility to choose how they want to interact with the festival, it might be by joining one of our four day Workshop Stream, a one off masterclass, a Vocal Taster session or it might be solely to perform in one of Hobart's many historic venues. The Festival has a great team able to work with choirs to make their time at the festival as rewarding as possible - so let us know what YOUR needs are. Below are a list of performance opportunities for choirs followed by the choir registration form.

Choir performance opportunities in the 2008 Festival

Aperitivo Concert Series (Thu - Sat)
These are small and intimate formal concerts that run every night of the Festival and feature between one and three choirs. Located in atmospheric and historic city venues, such as the Peacock Theatre and Town Hall, these form the main concert series for visiting choirs to the festival. (Suitable for adult and youth choirs)

Festival Club (Thu - Sat)
A favourite venue of festival participants The Club has an informal social atmosphere and is a great place to unwind after a busy day of singing. Traditionally a place for choirs/singing groups to strut their stuff in front of fellow chorister, The Club features 15 minute time slots and as the night unfolds it can create great opportunities for informal collaboration between singers – book early if you want to sing here.

Bonfire & Big Sing (Sat)
In 2008 we will be warming up the city with songs around the Festival Bonfire. A popular event with visitors and locals the Festival Bonfire is located outside Salamanca Arts Centre, the home of the Festival. There will be a short rehearsal for choirs participating in the big sing on Saturday afternoon in peroration for this very heart warming Hobart evening.

Song & Mulled Wine (Sat)
Following the bonfire, Salamanca Arts Centre lights up for a magical evening of Song & Mulled wine as every venue, gallery, nook & granny in the centre opens its doors to choirs & singing groups for an evening of non stop singing, vocal camaraderie and a little warming mulled wine - lots of fun and a social highlight of the festival. Choirs are given 15 minute time slots and can choose to perform more then once during the evening.

Singing in Public Place Program (Thu - Sat)
Part of the missions of this festival is to get singing out there in the community and the Singing in Public Places Program is designed to do just that. A lunch time program for choirs singing all over the city from Hospitals to the Mall is being put together for the 2008 festival. We encourage you to take part and add a little song to city life!
